No Charges Against HRP Officer in Breach of Trust Complaint

————————————————————————————

The province’s independent Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) released its report today regarding the allegation of breach of trust against a Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officer.

On February 2, 2022, SiRT was contacted by the RCMP “H” Division concerning the actions of a HRP officer assigned to an integrated investigative team. SiRT focused their investigation on whether there was a breach of trust in the interaction between the subject officer and the affected party. No specific date could be ascertained for the alleged breach, but it would have been between September 2019 and June 2020.

Based on SiRT’s investigation there was nothing arising that would indicate the subject officer breached the public trust in his interaction with the affected party. Therefore, there are no reasonable or probable grounds to lay a charge against the subject officer.
