Weekly Traffic Advisories (Sept 23)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Traffic Delay – CIBC Run for the Cure

Location: Multiple streets throughout downtown Halifax

Date: Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022

Time: 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Details: This closure is to facilitate the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Traffic impact: A detailed map of the 1km and 5km routes can be found here. All streets impacted by the routes will be closed for the duration of the event.

Traffic Delay – Sackville Drive

Location:​ Civic Address 858 Sackville Drive, at the intersection of Sackville Drive and Beaver Bank Road

Dates: Tuesday, Sept. 27 to Friday, Oct. 7

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

Work details: This work is to facilitate the installation of underground infrastructure related to a new development.

Traffic impact:​ Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times during the work. Operation of traffic signals will not be affected. Pedestrians access will be maintained and monitored by traffic control crew son site.

Road Closure – Caldwell Road

Location: Caldwell Road, from Delta Drive to Brookfield Avenue

Date: Saturday, October 1 to Sunday, October 2, and​ Saturday, October 8 to Sunday, October 9

Time: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily

Work details:​ This work is in support of grading and paving operations.

Traffic Impact: This will be a moving closure that moves with the construction crews. No thru traffic will be permitted, but access to driveways will be accommodated as crews move. Pedestrian traffic will be accommodated. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct residents. Marked detours will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and find alternate routes where possible.

Road Closure – Joffre Street

Location: Joffre Street, from Sinclair to Medford streets

Date:​ Monday, September 26 to Tuesday, November 22

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Work details: This work is related to watermain replacement and paving.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ Marked detours will be in place during the closure. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Road Construction – Chain Lake Drive

Location:​ Chain Lake Drive, from Lacewood to Washmill Lake drives

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 27 to Thursday, Sept. 29 (weather permitting)

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. then 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details:​ This work is for pavement maintenance.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: Forest Hills Parkway, at the intersection of Auburn Drive

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 21 Monday, Sept. 26

 

Time: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

 

Work details: This work is related to road construction. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work, the traffic signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic, pedestrians, and bicycles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

NEW WORK

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102

Highway 102 from Exit 4A to Exit 4C will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting from Monday, September 26, to June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and sunrise to noon on Friday.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Clarence Road

Clarence Road will be closed between Elliot and Leonard roads for the replacement of a box culvert until Wednesday, September 28.

The detour is via Elliot Road, Trunk 1 and Leonard Road.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge

Burnett Bridge, over MacLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove/Gays River, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October 31, due to planned work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until October 15.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16

Trunk 16, from 1.4 kilometres north of Lincolnville Loop, north to Mattie Road, is reduced to one lane for brush clearing and road work until Friday, September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: East Margaree Road

East Margaree Road will be closed to all traffic for installation of a concrete culvert until Friday, September 30.

The detour is via East Margaree Cross Road and the Cabot Trail.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until October 31, for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road

Westville Road at the Westville Road Bridge over Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until Friday, September 30. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: West Bay Road, St. Peter’s

West Bay Road, from Nature Dream Boulevard westerly for 4.6 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Friday, September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Trunk 4

Trunk 4, from Riverside Road eastbound for about 7.1 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until October 7.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30, easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Jamesville Bridge, Route 223

Jamesville Bridge is reduced to one lane for repairs until Friday, September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Hardscratch Road, Yarmouth

Hardscratch Road, from the Yarmouth town line to Greenville Road, has alternating lane closures for paving and patching until Friday, September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
