Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health and EHS encourage safety and support during Pride parade
Halifax Pride runs from July 14 to 24, 2022 with the Halifax Pride Parade set to kick off at noon on Saturday, July 16. Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health will proudly march together in the parade with prideHealth and the Nova Scotia Health/IWK Pride Network. Emergency Health Services (EHS) will also be proudly participating by providing support on site.
Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health and EHS recognize the Pride Parade as a rich, vibrant, fun and inclusive celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride parades are rooted in history of struggle and injustice, and while many gains have been made, inequities remain. Our three health organizations will participate in the parade in the spirit of celebration and with a commitment to ongoing action and progress within the health system.
This weekend, our collective focus is on celebration, safety and support:
- Keep an eye on the weather forecast. Make sure you’re prepared with sunscreen and lots of water, to prevent sunburn, dehydration or heat-related illness.
- Remember that while COVID-19 cases are decreasing, COVID is still present. When in crowded areas, consider wearing a mask and/or keeping physical distance between you and others outside of your social circle (where possible).
- Be mindful of individuals attending the parade who may be there with intentions to disrupt the event or cause harm. Report any suspicious activity by notifying Halifax Pride volunteers, on-site security, or calling 911, and stay focused on contributing to a positive, safe, fun environment for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies.
Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health and EHS are excited to celebrate with Pride!
