Special weather statement in effect for:
Halifax County – east of Porters Lake
Significant rainfall likely on Friday.
Total rainfall: 40 to 60 mm, except locally higher amounts in areas of heaviest rain.
Locations: eastern mainland Nova Scotia, and Cape Breton.
Time span: beginning late tonight, and continuing until Saturday morning.
Remarks: An area of intense rain is expected to impact parts of Nova Scotia on Friday. Confidence in this weather event is increasing. Rainfall warnings are likely to be issued as the areas receiving the heaviest rainfall amounts become more certain.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Stay clear of fast running rivers, creeks, and streams.
