Halifax District RCMP arrest two men for Possession of Property obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit has arrested two men for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 as a result of a traffic stop on Horseshoe Lake Dr. in Halifax.

On May 25, at approximately 2 p.m., Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit observed a man moving lumber inside a storage unit, on Horseshoe Lake Dr., when a Dodge Ram transporting lumber arrived. RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen two days prior. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Halifax, and the man inside the storage unit, a 25-year-old man from Halifax, were safely arrested.

Information and evidence later collected by RCMP officers determined that the two men are also responsible for a recent theft of lumber from a residential construction site in Timberlea.​ ​

The 25-year-old man, of Halifax, was later released on conditions. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. to face charges of:

  • Theft Over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Riley David Tracey, 22, of Halifax, has been charged with:

  • Theft Over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000;
  • Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (two counts).

Tracey was remanded in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
