RCMP lead search for missing man in Sissiboo River
Digby RCMP Detachment is leading a search for a man who entered the Sissiboo River and was not seen exiting it.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. yesterday evening, Digby RCMP responded to a report of a man who had entered the Sissiboo River but had not exited. RCMP officers learned that the man is Graham Cromwell, 48, of Weymouth Falls.
Digby RCMP began searching the area where Cromwell is believed to have entered the river and is being assisted by local Ground Search and Rescue teams, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry and the Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre.
When someone goes missing, it has deep and far-reaching impacts for the person and those that know them. We ask that people spread the word through social media respectfully.
While investigators continue to believe that Cromwell is in, or near the river, there is the possibility that he exited the river. With this in mind, RCMP is asking that anyone who has observed Graham Cromwell today or spoken with him to contact Digby RCMP at 902-245-2579.
