Cute (and a bit sad) story via CFB Halifax – We are thrilled to introduce this week’s #CFBFurryFriend siblings – Derek and Meredith!
We are thrilled to introduce this week’s #CFBFurryFriend siblings – Derek and Meredith!
In November 2021, a wild rabbit had baby bunnies under the deck of a post office. The babies were fine for a few weeks until their mother was in an accident and passed away. Their now (human) mom, a civilian member of our local #DefenceTeam, rescued all five baby bunnies from the post office. She, with the help of 10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue, ensured all five were adopted by loving families!
Derek and Meredith are about 1.5 years old and of an undetermined breed. They love their outdoor playtime and are lucky to have a 40 by 25 foot fenced area to play with lots of toys! They enjoy kale and romaine lettuce and get carrots and apples as a special treat.
A typical day for these two bunnies starts with good morning greetings and cuddles (if permitted by Derek and Meredith)! Then their home gets a good cleaning, and they go outside for a bit of exercise if it’s warm. It’s always a fight to get them back inside but when they do come in, it’s time for a little nap and then supper.
Fun fact about Derek and Meredith? If you are not a bunny owner, you may be unaware, but when bunnies are feeling happy, they binky!! For those who do not know what binky means, that is when bunnies flip and jump all over the place.
Welcome to our Defence family, Derek and Meredith!!
