Municipal services on Easter long weekend
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal service level adjustments over the upcoming Easter long weekend:
Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours
No municipal solid waste collection services will take place on Good Friday, April 15. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, April 15, will occur instead the next day, Saturday, April 16. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m. To ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.
Regular curbside collection services will occur on Easter Monday, April 18.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility will be closed on Friday, April 15 and Sunday, April 17 but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 16. The municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Friday, April 15, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 16.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, April 16, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 23.
Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services
Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Friday, April 15. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Friday; however, Alderney ferry will operate on Saturday, April 16 and provide Holiday Service on Sunday, April 17. Buses and ferries will operate on regular schedules on Monday, April 18.

Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services
Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, April 15, Sunday, April 17, and Monday, April 18. Residents are advised to call ahead to their individual facility for operating hours and program information. Contact information for municipally-operated facilities is online at www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.
Parking
On-street parking is free on Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18; however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage.
Customer Service Centres
The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours, Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 (from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
The three Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Friday, April 15, and Monday, April 18, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 19.
