Police charge man for stabbing

Police have charged a man in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Halifax last night.


At approximately 7:25 p.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Barrington Street for a report of an injured person. Officers located a 47-year-old man who had been stabbed by another man who was known to him. The suspect had fled the area on foot prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Today at approximately 9 a.m., officers arrested the suspect without incident in Halifax.

Malcolm Edson Haggerty, 41, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
