Hal-Con is planning for a Full Capacity convention in 2022!
Atlantic Canada’s biggest sci-fi, fantasy and gaming convention is slated to return at full capacity in 2022. The return to a full-scale convention comes after the Covid-19 pandemic caused Hal-Con to cancel plans for 2020 and to host the event at a reduced size in 2021.
Hal-Con Sci-Fi Fantasy Association will host the 2022 convention at the Halifax Convention Centre from October 28th to 30th, 2022. Tickets will go on sale June 24th, 2022 at hal-con.com. Further details about ticket sales, as well as guest announcements, will be shared via the Hal-Con website and social media channels as the event approaches.
“We are thankful for what we’ve been able to accomplish during the past two years as we navigated the pandemic,” says Chair Fleurette Benoit. “Now, we’re looking forward to a safe return of a full-scale convention and welcoming back our larger community from the Atlantic provinces and beyond. We can’t wait for fans to see what we have planned for 2022.”
Hal-Con 2021 focused on Nova Scotian content – from the guest line-up to vendors, programming, and presenters. The scaled-back convention was attended by 3,400 fans. In comparison, the 2019 convention welcomed over 16,000 attendees. In 2022, Hal-Con will feature in-person celebrity guests from outside of the province as it did before the pandemic.
The Hal-Con Board of Directors will be monitoring Covid-19 related health restrictions and recommendations as plans for this year’s event progress. If restrictions change, the 2022 event will be adjusted to reflect the most up-to-date regulations. Hal-Con 2022 will follow all public health guidelines at the time of the event.
