Amherst Police have become aware of an apparent scam in which people are receiving unsolicited photos and texts messages.
Responding to the messages results in further conversations in which the caller appears to be trying to get the recipient to send nude or compromising photos/videos to them.
Police advise that you should never engage in conversations that are unsolicited as it could be an attempt at extortion or blackmail. Be safe at all times, whether online or texting and block unwanted callers.
