Prepworks by Progressive Nut Chopper recalled due to potential injury hazard

Issue

The plastic container can break and release sharp shards of plastic, which can fall into the receptacle reservoir with the food, posing ingestion and injury hazards.

 

As of March 21, 2022, Lee Valley Tools has received 6 reports of incidences in Canada and no reports of injuries.

 

Affected products

This recall involves the Prepworks by Progressive Nut Chopper model number GFNC-2 sold at Lee Valley Tools from December 2018 to October 2019. The clear plastic nut chopper has a red domed lid and hand-crank handle, stainless steel blades, and a removable screw-base bottom reservoir.

 

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled nut chopper and contact the place of purchase for instructions on how to return the product for a full refund.

For more information, only consumers who purchased the nut chopper at Lee Valley Tools from December 2018 to October 2019 with proof of purchase can contact them by telephone toll-free at 1-800-267-8761, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm EST, or by email. Do not contact Lee Valley Tools if the nut chopper was purchased at another retailer.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
