Man faces several charges after arrested after fleeing traffic stop

On March 10, 2022 at 10:00 am, New Glasgow Regional Police arrested an adult male after he fled the scene after police conducted a traffic stop on Bell Street New Glasgow after receiving a report of a fraud that took place at a local business. The adult male who fled the scene, was immediately located nearby and taken into custody where he was in possession of several prohibited items.

Upon investigation, several items were seized by police that were located inside the vehicle that were stolen from a local business on Westville Road.

The 49-year-old male driver from Pictou County was charged with the following offences:

Charged with the following:
Theft Under $5000;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000;
Failure to Comply with Release Order;
Obstruction;
X 3 Counts Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon;
X3 Counts of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public.
The 49-year-old male was remanded in custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court Pictou on Friday March 11.

A 39-year-old female passenger from Pictou County was in the vehicle at the time and was arrested during the traffic stop and was charged with:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000;
Fraud.

The 39-year-old female was released from custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court at a later date.
New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
