POLICE LOOKING FOR INFO, WITNESSES IN RELATION TO FIRE AND THEFT FROM HIGHWAY 103 CONSTRUCTION SITE

On January 6, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of Bridgewater Fire Department (BFD) were called to a fire at the construction site of the new Highway 103 overpass. When BFD and police arrived, they located a structure fire at the job site. The structure, a detached semi-trailer, was severely damaged due to the fire.

In the follow-up investigation, police located evidence that the semi-trailer and other storage locations on site were broken into prior to the fire. Multiple tools and equipment were stolen. Investigators and property representatives are currently determining the extent and dollar value of both the stolen and damaged property. At this stage of the investigation police cannot speculate on the cause of the suspicious fire.

Bridgewater Police Service Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and General Investigation Service (GIS) assisted patrol officers with the investigation. SOCO and GIS investigators located evidence that requires further examination.

Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed any suspicious behavior or individuals on this open construction site, which is visible when traveling Highway 103, please contact investigators at 902-543-2464.
