Nova Scotia RCMP update on operations amidst COVID-19
The Nova Scotia RCMP continues to work closely with the Province of Nova Scotia and our policing partners in response to the pandemic to ensure the public and our employees are as protected as possible and we continue to provide policing services across the province.
As an emergency response agency, we have a robust response model and business continuity plans to manage all emergencies, including pandemics. At the outset of the pandemic we set up an Incident Management Team, dedicated to providing guidance and support for our COVID-19 response.
We continue to provide employees with regular updates, implement prevention measures within the workplace, and are supporting telework options. Our police officers are fully trained and supported in the appropriate and effective use of safety measures, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
At this time, front counter service at detachments across Nova Scotia remains open. Public access to detachments is restricted to one person in the foyer at a time and/or by appointment only. Criminal Record Checks will be completed only for employment purposes and for those volunteering to support Nova Scotia’s response to COVID-19. Although all detachments are following the same protocols, there may be times when individual detachments will need to vary their front counter service. The public is asked to call ahead to their local detachment. This change to front counter service will be monitored and reassessed on an ongoing basis with the intent of returning to full services as soon as possible.
Public safety is our priority. As our province continues to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, we thank Nova Scotians for doing their part to help keep each other safe and well.
