Multi-agency efforts to locate missing boy
A 10-year-old boy was located safe in the North Preston area on October 27 at approximately 6:36 p.m. He had been reported missing on the night of October 26, prompting a missing person investigation and extensive, multi-agency efforts to find him.
The efforts to locate the missing boy included general duty police officers from North Preston and Cole Harbour detachments, investigators from the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, members of Police Dog Services, 12 volunteer search and rescue teams from communities around the province, 911 dispatchers from Halifax Integrated Emergency Services and the RCMP’s Operational Communications Centre, Traffic Services members, a Department of Natural Resources helicopter and crew, and a Joint Rescue Coordination Centre helicopter and crew.
“This was a large coordinated effort of specialized resources – hundreds of highly trained people working together to find the boy safely.
