RCMP charge youth in fire at local high school

Yarmouth Town RCMP has charged a youth after two fires were set at a local high school in Yarmouth.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a fire at a local high school on Forest St. in Yarmouth. The local fire department was on scene and managed to extinguish two fires that had been set in the building. All staff and students were evacuated from the school and no injuries were reported.

Through the course of the investigation, police determined that a youth had set two fires in the school. The youth was arrested without incident and was later released on conditions. The youth will be facing charges of Arson and Mischief over $5,000. They will appear in court at a later date.
