RCMP investigating after serious collision in construction zone
Digby RCMP is investigating after a serious motor vehicle collision in a construction zone on Highway 101 in Smith’s Cove.
At approximately 8:15 a.m. yesterday morning, police were notified of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Smith’s Cove. Police, fire and EHS attended the scene and found that a car had been travelling on Highway 101 when it entered a construction zone and began slowing down. The car was then struck from behind by an SUV that had been travelling in the same direction. The collision also resulted in injury to three construction workers who had been working in the construction zone.
The driver of the SUV suffered injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene and released. Two construction workers suffered injuries and drove themselves to the hospital. A third construction worker suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. They were later airlifted to hospital in Halifax by Lifeflight.
RCMP investigating after serious off-road vehicle collision
King District RCMP is investigating after a serious off-road vehicle collision on Stirling Rd. in Sunken Lake.
At approximately 7:05 a.m. yesterday morning, police were notified of an off-road vehicle collision on Stirling Rd. in Sunken Lake. Police, fire and EHS attended the scene and found that an off-road vehicle had been travelling on Stirling Rd. when it left the road way and entered a ditch. The driver was pinned under the off-road vehicle and police later learned that he had been pinned for approximately 8 hours before he was able to call for help.
The driver of the off-road vehicle suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Halifax by Lifeflight.
The investigation is ongoing.
