For Tropical Depression Two.
Update : Tropical storm Bill
This information statement will be updated by 3 PM Tuesday.
Tropical Depression Two formed off the coast of North Carolina this morning. The Canadian Hurricane Centre continues to monitor this system, but it is not expected to have any direct impact on Canadian land areas.
Tropical Depression Two became better organized earlier today, as indicated by satellite and radar measurements. Current forecast guidance is indicating continued strengthening during the next twenty four hours as it travels over warm waters before reaching the Scotian Slope. The system is then expected to weaken Tuesday into Wednesday as it travels over offshore Canadian waters before becoming absorbed by a larger non-tropical low pressure system originating from the west. It is expected to become fully absorbed south of Newfoundland during the day Wednesday.
Please continue to monitor alerts issued by the Canadian Hurricane Centre and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
