Weekly Traffic Advisories (June 11)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, Afton

Highway 104, between Exits 36A and 36B, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Friday, June 18.

Traffic control is in place 24 hours a day.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Exit 11, Highway 118 Southbound

The Exit 11 ramp on Highway 118, southbound, will be closed to carry out bridge work on Highway 111 at the Woodland Overpass.

Work will take place until Saturday, June 12, at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Detour via Highway 118 takes vehicles off at Wright Avenue onto Highway 111.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exits 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, August 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control will be on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: Intersection of Bedford Highway and Flamingo Drive

Date: Wednesday, June 16

Time: Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to roadway rehabilitation

Traffic impact: During this work, the traffic signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Sackville and South Park streets

Location: Intersection of Sackville and South Park streets

Date:​ Thursday, June 17

Time:​ From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate upgrades to traffic signals

Traffic impact: During this work the traffic signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: South Park Street, from Sackville Street to Spring Garden Road

Date: Wednesday, June 16

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Pleasant Street

Location: Pleasant Street between Highway 111 and Atlantic Street

Date: Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to complete a natural gas pipeline installation and temporary restoration.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Road Construction – Forest Hills Parkway and Cole Harbour Road

Location: Forest Hills Parkway, from 9 Forest Hills Parkway to Cole Harbour Road, and the intersection at Forest Hills Parkway and Cole Harbour Road

Date:​ Overnight on Tuesday, June 15

Time: 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6:30 a.m. Wednesday

Work details: This work is related to road paving

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. As crews start work near and in the intersection at Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway, the traffic signals will be shut off and traffic control personnel will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location:​ Gottingen Street, from Black to Bloomfield streets

Date:​ Monday, June 14

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Prince Albert Road

Location: Prince Albert Road, between Cottage Hill Drive and Kiwanis Grahams Grove Park

Date: Monday, June 14 to Thursday, Sept. 9

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.​ each day (including occasional weekend work)

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation. This project is in support of the Prince Albert Road: Road Diet Project.

Location: Intersection of Chebucto Road and Allan Street

Date:​ Monday, June 14 to Friday, July 9

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ each day

Work details: This work is to accommodate the installation of new traffic signals

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place with occasional stop-and-go traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Beaver Bank Road

Location: Beaver Bank Road from Sackville Drive to Tucker Lake Road

Date:​ Saturday, June 12

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Bayers Road

Location: Intersection of Bayers and East Perimeter roads

Date: Saturday, June 12, 2021

Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. ​

Work details: This is to facilitate electrical work for new traffic signals. This work is part of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project.

Traffic impact: Traffic signals will be turned off with stop-and-go traffic in place while work is underway. Traffic personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Update: Beginning Monday at 6 a.m. this section of Summer Street will be changed to one-way southbound traffic only. This change is expected to be in place for the next three weeks. During this time the transit stop on Summer Street, by Veterans Memorial Lane (stop 8365), will be closed.

Northbound Halifax Transit buses will turn left onto Veterans Memorial Lane to avoid the work site and a temporary stop will be installed on the north side of Veterans Memorial Lane. Peak period express buses will end their routes and discharge passengers at this location.

Traffic Delays – Summer Street

Location: Summer Street between Bell Road and Veterans Memorial Lane

Date: Now until mid-September​

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays

Work details: Work within the street is required to facilitate the construction of a parkade for the Halifax Infirmary including installation of underground services by the Province of Nova Scotia.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
