Weekly Traffic Advisories (May 28)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exit 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exit 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control will be on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road Construction – Purcells Cove Road

Location: Purcells Cove Road, between Williams Lake Road and 375 Purcells Cove Road

Date:​ Friday, June 4

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is related to road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Cowie Hill Road

Location: Cowie Hill Road from Herring Cove Road to Chebucto Heights Elementary School

Date: Wednesday, June 2 ​

Time: 1 to 4 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place during this work. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Meadowlark Crescent​

Location: Meadowlark Crescent from Lincoln Cross to Eagle Crescent

Date: Thursday, June 3 and Friday, June 4

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Marked detours and barricades will be in place. Local traffic access will be maintained.​ Sidewalks will not be impacted by this closure.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Akerley Boulevard

Location: ​ Akerley Boulevard from Burnside Drive to John Savage Avenue

Date: ​ Wednesday, June 2 to Sunday, June 13

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (including weekends)

Work details: This work is to facilitate pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: There will be lane drops in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location:​ Waverley Road near Lake Charles Drive

Date:​ Tuesday, June 1

Time: ​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to guardrail installation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location:​ Waverley Road near Lake Charles Drive

Date:​ Tuesday, June 1

Time: ​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to guardrail installation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway

Location: ​ Intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway

Date:​ ​ Saturday, May 29

Time: ​ 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate traffic signal installation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. The traffic signals will be shut down during this work. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians around the work site. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Construction during COVID-19:

​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
