RCMP arrest three after home invasion in Hacketts Cove

Halifax District RCMP have arrested and charged three people after responding to a report of a home invasion in Hacketts Cove.

Friday evening, May 21, 2021, just after 8:30 p.m., members of the Tantallon Detachment were called to Adams Dr. in Hacketts Cove reporting a man and two women had broken into a home. Police were advised that the man had a firearm and had threatened to shoot the occupants of the home before fleeing with the two women in separate vehicles.

Police located the vehicles on Peggy’s Cove Rd., a short distance from the scene and conducted separate traffic stops. The man was arrested and found in possession of a loaded starter pistol, as well as a quantity of illegal drugs. The women were located driving a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen in Halifax, on May 17.

John Eric Malcom, 28, of Halifax, has been charged with the following:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breaking and Entering with Intent
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Pointing a Firearm (2 counts)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Discharging a Firearm with Intent
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

Amanda Joan Panagapko, 26, of Halifax, has been charged with the following:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breaking and Entering with Intent
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Theft Over $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Mischief
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breach of Probation

Kyrley Alexa Jane Rogers, 26, of Halifax, has been charged with the following:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Robbery
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breaking and Entering with Intent
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Breach of Probation

All have been remanded into custody, and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
