RCMP locates missing fisherman

Lunenburg District RCMP has located a missing fisherman safe and sound, after an overnight search on and around Molega Lake.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. yesterday evening, Lunenburg District RCMP received a report of a fisherman who had not returned home after a day of fishing on Molega Lake. They initiated a search of the lake, with assistance from the Greenfield and North Queens Fire Departments and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC). As the search continued through the night, plans were being put in place to have local ground search and rescue teams attend to begin a ground search at daylight.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. this morning, the missing fisherman and his boat were located by one of the fire department boats. The fisherman was in good health and good condition. He had run into engine issues with his boat, and had made his way to the nearest shoreline to wait for searchers to find him. The fisherman was transported back to the boat launch, where he was examined by EHS and released from the scene in good health.

The RCMP would like to thank the Greenfield and North Queens Fire Departments and the JRCC for their assistance in locating the missing fisherman.
