Weekly Traffic Advisories (May 14th)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, will be reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Trunk 14, Greenfield

Trunk 14, one kilometre west of Walker Road, will be reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, June 15.

Traffic control on site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Trunk 4, Broadway/Highway 104 Overpass

Due to ongoing twinning on Highway 104, there will be a road closure on Trunk 4 at Broadway/Highway 104 Overpass until Friday, May 21. Local traffic can access Broadway via Exit 27 or Exit 29 from Highway 104.

Signs and traffic control will be in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, will be reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exit 9 and 10, will have alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, will have alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104, eastbound lanes between Exit 20 and 21, will be reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury, 880 metres west of Exit 44, will be reduced for about 2.7 kilometres westerly to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control will be on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road Construction – Intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway

Location: Cole Harbour Road at the intersection of Forest Hills Parkway

Date:​ Thursday, May 20

Time: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to traffic signal installation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. The traffic signals at the intersection will be shut off while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: Purcells Cove Road, between Williams Lake and 2372 Purcells Cove roads

Date:​ Thursday, May 20

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is related to road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Valleyfield Road

Location:​ Valleyfield Road, from Woodlawn Road to Tacoma Drive

Date:​ Thursday, May 20

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: Pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops with occasional stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Closure – Rutledge Street​

Location: Rutledge Street from the Bedford Highway to Bedford Street

Date: Monday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 18 Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 20

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day​

Work details: This work is to complete roadway maintenance near the intersection of the Bedford Highway.

Traffic impact:​ Marked detours and barricades will be in place. Local traffic access will be maintained and sidewalks will not be impacted by this closure.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Commodore Drive, from Eileen Stubbs Avenue to Highway 118

Date:​ Friday, May 14 Wednesday, May 19

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ​ 2 to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location:​ Caledonia Road from Main Street to Dumbarton Avenue

Date:​ Wednesday, May 19

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details:​ ​ Work is being completed for pavement rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops with occasional stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Gottingen Street

Location: Gottingen Street between Cogswell and Cornwallis streets

Date: Tuesday, May 18 and Wednesday, May 19

Time: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day

Work details: To accommodate utility work in the area

Traffic impact: One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Traffic Delay – Massachusetts Avenue

Location:​ Massachusetts Avenue – Inbound and Outbound Lanes near the McKay Bridge ramps

Date:​ Wednesday, May 19

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.​

Work details:​ ​ Lanes drops are required to complete work on the underside of the Lady Hammond Road bridge.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Herring Cove Road

Location: Herring Cove Road near Lynnett Road

Date: Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 20

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Work details: Natural gas service installation

Traffic impact: One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes when possible.

Road Closure & Traffic Delay – Almon Street

Location: Almon Street, between Robie and Gladstone streets

Date: Saturday, May 1 to Sunday, May 9

Time: Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to facilitate the installation of underground infrastructure

Traffic impact: Almon Street, between Robie and Gladstone streets, will be closed on May 1, 2, 8 and 9 as crews install underground infrastructure. Motorists can also expect intermittent delays on this section of Almon Street from Monday, May 3 to Friday, May 7. Local access will be maintained at all times. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

There is an existing sidewalk closure on the south side of Almon Street in place due to building construction.

Location: Duke Street from Brunswick to Upper Water streets

Date:​ Monday, May 17

Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate pavement rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location:​ Woodlawn Road, from Main Street to Mount Edward Road

Date:​ Monday, May 17

Time: 9 a.m. to noon ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops with occasional stop-and-go will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Public Service Announcement

Road Construction and Sidewalk Closure – South Park Street

Location: South Park Street, from Sackville Street to Spring Garden Road (west side of Public Gardens)

Date:​ Monday, May 17 to Friday, May 21

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day ​

Work details: This work is for sidewalk repairs

Traffic impact: Lane drops on the roadway will be in place occasionally while work is underway. The sidewalk will be closed during this work. Sidewalk closure signage will be in place, and pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Closure – Rutledge Street​

Location: Rutledge Street from the Bedford Highway to Bedford Street

Date: Monday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 18

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day​

Location: Gottingen Street, between Falkland and Cogswell streets

Date: Saturday, May 15 to Sunday, May 16

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate Nova Scotia Power installing a new utility pole.

Traffic impact: The street will be reduced to one lane, with stop-and-go traffic in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Ochterloney Street from Maple Avenue to Alderney Drive

Date:​ Saturday, May 15

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is to accommodate pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
