Weekly Traffic Advisories (Apr 23)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury, 880 metres west of Exit 44, will be reduced to one lane for about 2.7 kilometres westerly for paving from Monday, April 26, until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control will be on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, will be reduced to one lane until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exit 9 and 10, will have alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

Traffic Delay – 1739 Bedford Highway, between Oakmount Drive and Highway 101/102 Interchange

Location: 1739 Bedford Highway, between Oakmount Drive and Highway 101/102 Interchange

Date: Monday, May 3 to Monday, May 31

Time: Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays

Work details: The street will be excavated for capping underground service infrastructure.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Public Service Announcement
Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Herring Cove Road

Location: Herring Cove Road, between the Armdale Rotary and Purcells Cove Road

Date: Thursday, April 29

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (lane closure)

Work details: The installation of barriers is required to temporarily mitigate rock face starting to drop material.

Traffic impact: A closure of the right most lane in the outbound direction will be in place while work is underway. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.

The sidewalk will be closed long-term while an engineered solution is developed for the rock face. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the opposite side of the road until the rock is stabilized.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Closure – North Street

Location: North Street, between Robie and Agricola streets

Date: Tuesday, April 27

Time: 6 p.m. to midnight

Work details: To facilitate Nova Scotia Power repair work

Traffic impact: Vehicle traffic will be directed around the work. Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of the street. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Cumberland Drive

Location: Cumberland Drive between Cole Harbour Road and Colby Drive

Date: Tuesday, April 27 until the end of July

Time: Crews will be on site weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work includes a new concrete curb and gutter, upgrading the existing sidewalk to a multi-use pathway and paving of the roadway.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Bayers Road

Location: Bayers Road between Vaughan and Connaught avenues

Date: Monday, April 26 until late July

Time: Crews will be on site weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is required as part of phase 1 of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project, which involves the widening of this section of Bayers Road, to add dedicated bus lanes in both directions. Once complete, the dedicated bus lanes will allow residents to travel more conveniently and efficiently through this corridor.

Construction during COVID-19:​

Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
