Mastercraft 8-Outlet Metal Power Bar recalled due to Electric Shock Hazard

Common name: Mastercraft 8-Outlet Metal Power Bar

Product description: This recall involves Mastercraft 8-Outlet Metal Power Bar, 4 foot (1.2 metres). The affected Canadian Tire product number is 052-9632. This recall includes all units manufactured prior to and including October 2020. The affected power bars will either have a 4-digit or a 6-digit Manufacturing Date Code. For the 4-digit date code, the first two digits are the month, the last two digits are the year. For the 6-digit date codes, the first two digits are the month, the last four digits are the year. The date codes can be found on the packaging near the barcode and on the back of the unit. See images for examples of where to find the date code.

Hazard identified: The black plastic caps covering the receptacles can come off when unplugging a cord from the unit, exposing the internal components and posing a risk of electric shock to the consumer. As of April 6, 2021, the company has received one report of the plastic receptacle caps becoming dislodged in Canada, and no reports of injury.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any Canadian Tire store for a full refund.
