Municipal services on Easter long weekend
– The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal service level adjustments over the upcoming Easter long weekend:
Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours
No municipal solid waste collection services will take place on Good Friday, April 2. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, April 2, will occur instead the next day, Saturday, April 3. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m. To ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.
Regular curbside collection services will occur on Easter Monday, April 5.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the municipal recycling plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Friday, April 2 and Sunday, April 4, but will be open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5.
The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, April 3, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, April 10.
Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services
Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Friday, April 2. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Friday; however, Alderney ferry service will be provided on Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4. Buses and ferries will operate on regular schedules on Monday, April 5.

Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services
Many municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, April 2, Sunday, April 4, and Monday, April 5. Residents are advised to call ahead to their individual facility for operating hours and program information. Contact information for municipally-operated facilities is online at www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php.
Parking
On-street parking is free on Friday, April 2; however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage.
Customer Service Centres
The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours, Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4 (from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
The three Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Friday, April 2, and Monday, April 5, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 6.
