Municipal service updates for winter storm

Crews are active in all areas and are applying de-icing materials. Streets, sidewalks and bike lanes are snow covered, and residents are reminded to use caution while travelling.

The following are updates on municipal services:

Solid Waste

Due to the weather and road conditions, collection services of garbage, organics, and recyclables scheduled today Friday, March 19 has been delayed until tomorrow, Saturday, March 20 in the following areas:

  • Halifax (Armdale, Spryfield, Purcells Cove)
  • Central Dartmouth
  • Bedford
  • Herring Cove, Sambro, Harrietsfield area
  • Fall River, Fletchers Lake
  • Cole Harbour, Westphal, Cherry Brook area

Please remove your material from the curbside and place for collection tomorrow by 7 a.m.

The Household Special Waste Depot will be cancelled for tomorrow, Saturday, March 20.

Parks & Recreation

Openings at many municipal recreation facilities will continue to be delayed, with a possible reopening at 2 p.m. March Break Day Camps at most municipal facilities will be cancelled for the day. Please call your local recreation centre for further information.

The Halifax Public Gardens are closed today.

Halifax Transit

Many Halifax Transit bus routes are on snow plans. Updates to service will also be posted to Halifax.ca/transit and @hfxtransit on Twitter.
