Police investigate break and enter, assault and suspicious fire

The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a break and enter, assault and arson that occurred at a home in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. on February 27, Halifax District RCMP responded to a home on fire Sackville Dr.​ The only occupant was able to get out prior to police arrival and was taken to hospital by EHS with non life-threatening injuries.

Police believe an unknown man had entered the home, assaulted the occupant and started a fire in the home before leaving. The suspect is described as a white man, 5-foot-7 and was wearing a dark jacket and a hat.

This fire involved a single unit dwelling.

There was one injury and no fatalities.

The ignition source was undetermined.  The area of origin was determined to be a storage room.

There were operating smoke alarms.

The cause of this fire is classified as INCENDIARY.
