Police issue 47 tickets for traffic violations

Halifax Regional Police issued 47 summary offence tickets to multiple drivers for traffic violations that occurred throughout the region yesterday.

HRP’s Traffic Unit was monitoring traffic with a focus on speeding and distracted driving violations. Officers issued 11 summary offence tickets to drivers for speeding and eight tickets to drivers for using their cell phones while driving. Officers also issued 28 tickets for other offences including no insurance, failed vehicle inspections and expired plates.

In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on speed enforcement and distracted driving. We all have a role to play to help keep our roads safe.

If you see someone driving dangerously, call 911 when it is safe to do so. Give the call taker your location along information about the vehicle, direction of travel and description of the driver.
