Sophie is a unique case who will need a special person and a quiet home. Sophie has a condition called hyperesthesia, which is a type of compulsive disorder that causes a sensation of uncontrolled itching and discomfort along the lower back. This can be distressing and uncomfortable, and understandably, these cats can become irritable. Sophie has been known to lash out at humans due to her condition. This is why we are seeking a specific type of home for her, one best suited to meet her needs.
Sophie is on specific medications to help with her discomfort, and to support relaxation. If these medications are effective, it is expected that she will need lifelong therapy. Despite some of these concerns, we think Sophie can do very well in a special home with time and patience.
