Police are appealing to the public for information as they continue to investigate a recent homicide in North Preston.

At approximately 12:55 a.m., on January 27, Halifax District RCMP responded to reports of shots fired in the community. Police located the victim of the shooting en route to the hospital, and he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Quintez Downey of North Preston.

Early investigation revealed that the victim was shot near Clarence St. and is believed to have been alone. Police continue to have numerous investigators dedicated to this incident to move the investigation forward. Any member of the public with information is asked to contact the police.

The investigation is being led by the Major Crime Unit of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
