Municipal offices delay opening and service updates

UPDATE: Municipal offices will remain closed today.

Recreation facilities across the region will remain closed today. Please call your local recreation centre for further information.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising that winter conditions are present and operations are active in all areas. The majority of main streets are clear and passable, however conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly as the weather changes. Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists should prepare for winter conditions and use caution.

The following are updates on municipal services:

Municipal Offices

All municipal offices will be delaying opening until 11 a.m. today. A status update will be provided prior to 11 a.m.

All essential services, as well as 311, winter operations and Halifax Transit are maintaining operations.

Safety is the municipality’s top priority. Delaying opening will facilitate clearing efforts by crews and ensure a safer commute for our employees and residents.

Parks & Recreation

Due to current weather conditions, recreation facilities across the region will be delaying opening, with a possible reopening at noon. A status update will be made at 10 a.m. Please call your local recreation centre for further information.

The Halifax Public Gardens will remain closed today.

Halifax Transit

Many Halifax Transit busses are on detour. Service disruptions are announced as needed via @hfxtransit on Twitter and the website.
