Police are asking for public’s assistance in the Donald Scott McKay homicide investigation
Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance with the investigation of the homicide of Donald Scott McKay.
At approximately 3:10 p.m. on December 8 Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at 5578 Morris Street in Halifax. Officers located 61-year-old Donald Scott McKay of Halifax inside the residence suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers also located James Alfred Maclean with injuries inside the residence and he was transported to hospital for medical treatment. He has been charged with second degree murder in relation to Donald’s death.
Investigators are interested in speaking to a person who may have interacted with Maclean on the south side of Morris Street close to the intersection with Birmingham at approximately 3 p.m. The person had a thin build and was wearing a gray hooded jacket, black pants, dress shoes, a dark toque and a non-surgical mask.
This potential witness is not a suspect in the homicide, and we are not seeking additional suspects at this time.
