Search in the Fundy for missing fishermen

Regrettably, based on the results of the search over the last 36+ hours, a search covering over 260 sq NM by sea and air, and the environmental factors, the search for the six missing fishers has been suspended.

Update: Unfortunately, this evening, one individual was found deceased. The next of kin have been notified.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the family. The search continues for the remaining individuals.

At 0551 AST this am, JRCC Hfx received a signal from an EPIRB IVO Delaps Cove, NS. A CH-149 Cormorant Helicopter & CH-130 Hercules Aircraft from 14 Wg Greenwood were dispatched, along with the CCG Ships Courtney Bay & M. Perley

Weather in the area is negatively affecting the search. Debris was spotted from the air at 0822 AST and subsequent reports found 2 lift rafts washed ashore. No one was onboard.

The search continues off the coast of Delaps Cove. Additional debris has been found but no one has yet to be located. The CCGS Sir William Alexander has also now been tasked.

The vessel has been Identified as the “Chief William Saulis”, with 6 persons on board.

Ground Search and Rescue personnel are also supporting from shore. Further updates will be provided as new information comes in.

On behalf of everyone at HRFE, we send our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased individual and our thoughts are with the @RCMPNS, Coast Guard, The Maritime Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, GSAR and the families and friends of the missing as the search for the five fishermen in the Bay of Fundy continues.
