Truro Police Service responded to a report of an inmate being stabbed at the Nova Institute for Women

On Saturday December 5th shortly after 5 pm, the Truro Police Service responded to a report of an inmate being stabbed at the Nova Institute for Women located on James St. in Truro.

As a result of this investigation, a 31 year old inmate is being charged with attempted murder along with other weapons related charges.

The accused is expected to appear in Truro Provincial Court later today.

The victim, a 39 year old inmate received numerous stab wounds and was transported to the Colchester East Hants Health Center. The victim has since been released from the hospital.

Colchester RCMP Forensic Identification Service assisted in the investigation.

This matter remains under investigation by the Truro Police Service Criminal Investigation Division.
