The Halifax Chapter of MADD along with HRP and the Hfx Harbour Bridges kicked off their 2020 Project Red Ribbon Campaign.
Project Red Ribbon is our annual awareness campaign to promote sober driving during the holiday season.
Even though the usual parties and celebrations may be limited this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the holiday season is still a time of high risk for impaired driving.
From now until the beginning of January, MADD Canada and our Chapters and Community Leaders across the country will be distributing thousands of red ribbons and red ribbon car decals for Canadians to proudly display on their vehicles, key chains, purses, brief cases and backpacks.
Our red ribbon is a small but powerful symbol of the wearer’s commitment to sober driving, and helps keep the sober driving message top of mind for all who see it.
With Project Red Ribbon, MADD Canada and its volunteers across the country are urging everyone to:
Never drive impaired or ride with an impaired driver.
Plan ahead if you’re going to be drinking or consuming cannabis or other drugs. Call an Uber or a cab, arrange a designated driver, take public transit or stay the night.
Call 911 you see a driver you suspect is impaired.
Report impaired driving. Call 911
Campaign 911 is a Canada-wide campaign to encourage and empower the Canadian public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
Impaired driving is the #1 criminal cause of death in Canada and, yet, every impaired driving crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to police, all Canadians can play a role in keeping our roads and waterways safe and in reducing impaired driving crashes, deaths and injuries.
