Weekly Traffic Advisories (Nov 6)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Provincial  / Municipal

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.



HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, will be reduced to one lane until March 2021.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer 2021.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall 2021.

Traffic Delays on Friday, Nov. 13

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays at the following locations on Friday, Nov. 13:

  • Astral Drive, from Caldwell Road to Parkedge Crescent, between 8 a.m. and noon
  • Caldwell Road, from Hampton Green to Nova Terrace, between noon and 4 p.m.

Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

50 Ilsley Avenue – Road Construction

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will be taking place at 50 Ilsley Avenue in Dartmouth beginning today until Friday, Nov. 13.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delays on Tuesday, Nov. 10

Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will be taking place at various locations across the municipality as follows on Tuesday, Nov. 10:

  • St. George Boulevard from Matthew to Virginia drives from 8 to 10 a.m.
  • Chain Lake Drive from Horseshoe Lake Drive to Habitat for Humanity Restore from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Leeds Street from Novalea to Memorial drives from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Duffus Street from Robie Street to Novalea Drive from 1 to 2 p.m.
  • Veterans Memorial Lane from Robie to Summer streets from 2 to 3 p.m.

Lane drops or stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Montague Road – Road Construction

Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Montague Road from Highway 7 to Serpentine Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop and go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Queen Street – Traffic Delay

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Queen Street, between Spring Garden Road and Clyde Street, on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this work, the sidewalk on Queen Street will be closed and a pedestrian detour will be in place. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Akerley Boulevard – Road Construction

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Akerley Boulevard, between Windmill Road and Joseph Zatzman Drive, on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays at the intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road on Sunday, Nov. 8. This work will require the traffic signals to be shut down from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. When the traffic signals are shut down, traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site. When the signals are on, two-way traffic will be maintained.

Update: This work will continue on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Downsview Drive. Crews will continue to be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​ on weekdays until the end of November. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Public Service Announcement

Old Sackville Road and Downsview Drive – Road Construction

Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Downsview Drive, between Old Sackville Road and Canadian Tire, until the end of November.​ ​ ​

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​ on weekdays until the end of November, and on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Downsview Drive. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

At times, there will be stop-and-go traffic on Old Sackville Road at the intersection of Downsview Drive, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Robie and North streets​ – Traffic Signal Installation

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the installation of new traffic signals will take place at the intersection of Robie and North streets on Saturday, Nov. 7.​

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site while the signals are shut down.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Old Sackville Road – Road Construction

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place near 665 Old Sackville Road on Monday, Nov. 9.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Bell Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Bell Road, between Robie and Summer streets, on Saturday, Nov. 7, then from Monday, Nov. 9 to Tuesday, Nov. 10. This work will require the traffic signals to be shut down at the intersection of Bell Road and Summer Street.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. One lane of traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.
