Police charge woman for stunting
Police have charged a woman for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit this morning in Dartmouth.
At approximately 11:15 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 111 inbound just past Mic Mac Mall. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 142 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
A 19-year-old woman from Cole Harbour was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, she was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle that she was driving was seized and towed.
The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
