Wipes and gloves continue to clog the sewer system.

Wipes and gloves continue to clog the sewer system.

This load was pulled from 1 of the 167 wastewater (sewer) pumping stations owned, operated, and maintained by Halifax Water.

Wipes do not break down in water the same way that toilet paper is designed to. They clog pipes both inside your home, in wastewater pipes in the street, in pumping stations, and in our wastewater treatment facilities.

Please don’t use your toilet as a garbage can. When residents are self-isolating or social distancing by staying at home due to COVID-19, the last thing anyone needs is a sewer backup forcing you out of your home.
