Special weather statement in effect
Rain and strong winds are expected this weekend.
Total rainfall: 30 to 50 mm.
Maximum wind gusts: 80 km/h, possibly higher.
Locations: Atlantic coast of mainland Nova Scotia and eastern Cape Breton.
Time span: heaviest precipitation to begin Saturday morning before tapering off late in the day Sunday.
Remarks: Rain at times heavy and strong easterly winds will persist for most of the day Saturday. A mix or transition to snow is possible Saturday night into Sunday for inland areas.
