RCMP issue Summary Offence Ticket under the Health Protection Act
Millbrook RCMP have charged a business under the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with Part 1 of the Act and remaining open as a non-essential business.
Following repeated warnings, on March 28, Millbrook RCMP located a non-essential business open in the community. The owner was warned to close the business but yet it remained open. The owner was charged with Corporation Failing to Comply with Part 1 of the Health Protection Act. The fine for this Offence is $7,500.
In line with the Nova Scotia Health Protection Act, Nova Scotia RCMP and its law enforcement partners are continuing to encourage and promote compliance with the steps outlined by the Chief Medical Officer of Health to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
