RCMP investigate fatal dog attack in Middle Musquodoboit

Just after 8 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a possible deceased woman off the Wittenburg Rd. in Middle Musquodoboit and a dog was near the woman.

Police determined that the woman, who lived in Middle Musquodoboit, was walking her dog when it attacked her. The dog was described as a large pit bull. The dog ran away prior to police arrival.

Police were searching the area for the dog. At approximately 9:30 a.m., police were notified that the dog was struck by a passing motorist near Hwy. 224 and it was confirmed deceased.

We can not provide any further information on the woman at this time because family has not been notified.

UPATE 2020-06-09 10:09 am – The pit bull was located and police has confirmed it is deceased. The circumstances surrounding the initial call and the dog’s death are under investigation.

UPDATE 2020-06-09 9:13 am – The pitbull is suspected of being involved in a fatal attack. Stay inside. Call 911 if you see it. (Person)
