Multiple charges result as two drivers arrested for impaired driving

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged two impaired drivers with multiple charges after two separate motor vehicle traffic stops.

On August 26, 2022, at 9:00 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police charged a 18-year-old male driver from Pictou County with Impaired Driving during a traffic stop on Summer Street New Glasgow. The male was also charged with underage drinking and as a newly licensed driver he was charged with failing to comply with the provisions of having a zero-blood alcohol level.

On August 28, 2022, at 2:10 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police charged a 47-year-old female driver from Pictou County with Impaired Driving during a traffic stop on Riverside Parkway New Glasgow. The female driver was also charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and having an expired license plate.

“Driving at these times of day while impaired, whether by drugs or alcohol, puts an increased risk of a potential cause of serious injury and or death especially for children,” said Constable Ken Macdonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police. ”Impaired driving unfortunately occurs at any day of the week and at all times of the day.”

Both drivers are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date.

The New Glasgow Regional Police ask the public to immediately call 911 if they see a possible impaired driver, to report their location along with a description of the vehicle, including the license plate number, colour, make and model, the direction of travel for the vehicle and a description of the driver.
