Meet Burt!

Burt is a very small orphaned baby groundhog that came to us a couple of weeks ago – he was thin and dehydrated and he weighed only 190 grams.

While adult groundhogs are capable of weighing up to 7 kilograms, they are very small when they are born. After a very fast pregnancy of only a month, groundhogs are born being less than four inches in length.

Groundhogs are one of the largest members of the ground squirrel family of rodents called Sciuridae!

From June 1st to the 30th, every $1 donated to us through our Canada Helps page gives us a chance to win $20,000 from Canada Helps in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge! If you would like to support us in our rehabilitation efforts, we would appreciate it!
