38-year-old man charged in connection with break, enter and theft from a church

A 38-year-old man from Halifax, N.S., has been charged in connection with a break, enter and theft from a church in the Town of New Glasgow.

On Saturday April 5th, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police officers responded to a report of break, enter and theft at a church on Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow. The theft occurred when a private event was taking place.

Through a subsequent investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect in connection with the investigation. Officers were also able to recover the items.

Police then arrested the 38-year-old man without incident.

The 38-year-old male from Halifax was identified as Jonathan David Murphy and was charged with:

-Break and Entering

-Theft under $5000.00

-Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime

-Trafficking Property Obtained by Crime

-Three Counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order

He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday April 7th, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
