A busy night for HPFF

At 6:06 PM, crews responded to a house fire on St George Blvd in Hammonds Plains. #hfxfirefighters from Station 8 in Bedford arrived first on scene, followed quickly by Station 65 and Station 10, to find a working fire in an attached garage. Quick action kept the fire from spreading further into the home.

During the response, our members from Station 10 rescued a cat and used a pet oxygen mask to help revive the animal before it was brought to a vet. Most of our frontline apparatus carry pet rescue devices to provide oxygen to animals overcome by smoke.

Later, at 12:52 AM, our members from Station 18 responded to assist at another house fire in Musquodoboit Harbour, an area without full-time, 24/7 staffing. The structure was a total loss.

Fast response times save lives, property, and even pets. Fire fighters in fire stations, on fire trucks, ready to respond, make all the difference.
