Election Day Voting has Begun for the Provincial General Election
Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, is election day in Nova Scotia. Voting is available from 8 am – 8 pm at election day polls and returning.
To be eligible to vote in the provincial general election voters must be 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, reside in Nova Scotia, and have lived in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024.
Elections Nova Scotia reminds voters in Nova Scotia that today they may vote at their assigned voting location or at the returning office in their electoral district. Nova Scotia voters can find their election day voting location by entering their address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on the Elections Nova Scotia website (electionsnovascotia.ca) or by calling 1-800-565-1504.
Voters in Nova Scotia can bring their ID, but it is not necessary. Voters without current ID can take an oath to attest to their eligibility and vote. Eligible voters can be added to the list of electors when they vote.
Voters are reminded that the deadline to apply in person or by agent for a write-in ballot kit is 3 pm on election day. All write-in ballot kits must be returned by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 to be counted.
Voters in Nova Scotia that are in line when the polls close at 8pm, will be allowed to stay until they have an opportunity to vote. But if voters arrive after 8 pm it is too late.
