Traffic Delay – Lucasville Road

Location: Lucasville Road at the bridge over the Sackville River

Date: Monday, May 6 until early 2025

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Lucasville Bridge. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Temporary traffic signals will be installed to control traffic flow through the work site as work progresses on the Lucasville Bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Hornes Road Bridge

Location: Hornes Road Bridge, between Cow Bay Road and Caldwell Road

Date: July 2, 2024 to November 2024

Time: 24/7

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the rebuilding of the bridge.

Traffic impact: A signed detour will be in place.

Halifax Transit will be re-routed and the following stops will be closed:

Hornes Road at civic 12 (2221)

Hornes Road at civic 42 (2222)

Hornes Road at civic 74 (2223)

Hornes Road after Cow Bay Road (7147)

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Windsor Street, from Cork to London streets

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 18

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road and sidewalk repairs, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Date: Thursday, Oct. 24

Time:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Upper Water Street

Location: Upper Water Street near civic 2180  

Date: Monday, Oct. 28 to Wednesday, Oct. 30 

Time: 6 a.m. on Monday until midnight on Wednesday 

Work details: This work is to facilitate the connection of the permanent street alignment in the Cogswell District 

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.  

Road Closure – Nora Bernard Street 

Location: Nora Bernard Street between Brunswick and Barrington streets 

Date: Monday, Oct. 28 to Friday, Nov. 8 

Time: 24/7 

Work details: Crews will be completing the work to connect Nora Bernard Street to the new roundabout in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic impact: Nora Bernard Street will be local traffic only. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.  

Location: Barrington Street from Nora Bernard Street to civic 2156 

Date: Effective Monday, Oct. 28  

Time: 24/7 

Work details: To facilitate the new road alignment at the Barrington Street and Upper Water Street intersection, a small section of Barrington Street will be closed in conjunction with the opening of the new roundabout in support of the Cogswell District project. This section of road will remain closed throughout 2025, as the new roads and parks in this area are built in the area.

Traffic impact: This section of Barrington Street will be local traffic only. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Intersection of Oxford and Vienna streets

Date: Thursday, Oct. 24

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Time:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (weekdays only)

Work details: This work includes asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Trail Closure – Beechville Lakeside Timberlea Trail

Location: Beechville Lakeside Timberlea Trail, from Maplewood Drive to Sprucebrook Lane

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 24

Time: 24/7

Work details: This is to facilitate the installation of a sidewalk. The trail will close beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Residents are advised to adhere to all signage and instructions from workers on site, as there will be heavy equipment operating in the area.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Old Sambro Road and Dunbrack Street

Location: Intersection of Old Sambro Road and Dunbrack Street

Date: Wednesday, October 23

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate a utility installation at 48 Old Sambro Road.

Traffic impact: Traffic signals at the intersection will be turned off while work is underway, with traffic control personnel in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Hollis Street

Location: Hollis Street, between Salter and Bishop streets

Dates: Tuesday Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 5

Times: Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 Friday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

           Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This delay is to facilitate replacement of an electric generator.

Traffic impact: Signed detours will be in place for pedestrians. Cyclists will temporarily use the street in single file with vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic impact: Two lanes of traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Street Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: Gottingen Street, between Almon and Russell streets

Dates:  Monday, Oct. 21, to Friday, Oct.  25

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate the safe trenching and maneuvering of equipment.

Traffic impact: A detour will be in place for vehicles. The sidewalk on the east side of Gottingen Street, next to CFB Halifax will be open for pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Cole Harbour Road, from Caldwell Road to Cumberland Drive

Date:  Sunday, Oct. 20 to Friday, Nov. 1

Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Traffic impact: Stop and go traffic and lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Work details: This is to facilitate service installations to 3040 Oxford Street.

NEW WORK

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Route 308, Quinan

Route 308 westerly from Shunacadie Road for about 3.5 kilometres has alternating lane closures for road work until Saturday, November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

CONTINUING WORK

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Kenwood Drive, Sydney River

Kenwood Drive from Oceanview Drive to Kings Road is closed for construction of a roundabout until Saturday, November 9.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Donaldson Bridge, French River

The Donaldson Bridge on Lake Road, about three kilometres west of Tatamagouche, is closed until further notice.

The detours are Trout Brook Road and Cooper Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

The northbound side of the Salmon River Bridge on Highway 102, between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane for bridge work. The northbound right lane will be closed 24 hours a day. The expected completion date is Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site, and signs are posted.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Route 366

A section of Route 366 is closed because of a culvert failure. Only local traffic is allowed from East Amherst to Port Howe. A detour is available via Trunk 6.

Work continues until Thursday, October 31.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford / Lower Sackville

Highway 102 near Exit 4C has regular lane closures and construction in both directions until further notice, for construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 interchange.

Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound lanes and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes. Traffic control is on-site. Both lanes will be open in the evening and overnight.

Motorists should expect delays and should use alternative routes when possible.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 111 (Windsor Street Exchange), Halifax

Construction on the structure over Mackintosh Street will continue until further notice.

Traffic control is on-site.

HANTS COUNTY: Halfway River Bridge, Hantsport

The Halfway River Bridge on Trunk 1 is closed for repairs until Thursday, October 31.

A detour is in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Beaton Road, Hawthorne

Beaton Road five kilometres from Trunk 19 is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Roseburn Road, Whycocomagh

Roseburn Road 5.2 kilometres from Whycocomagh-Port Hood Road is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Rough Brook Bridge, Queensville

The Rough Brook Bridge on Highway 105, about 2.2 kilometres north of Blue Ridge Road, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Thursday, October 31.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Trunk 19, Harbourview

Trunk 19 from the Captain Gillis Bridge northerly for 250 metres is reduced to one lane for repaving until Thursday, October 31.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Walker Cove Road, Walker Cove

Walker Cove Road, 1.2 kilometres from Trunk 19, is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Whycocomagh Mountain Road, Whycocomagh Mountain

Whycocomagh Mountain Road from Highway 105 northerly for about 0.7 kilometres is reduced to one lane for road work until Friday, November 8.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

The Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.
