Registration opens for Parks & Recreation summer programming
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that registration has opened for summer recreation programs.
Parks & Recreation offers a variety of innovative, cost-effective programming lead by local, passionate instructors in a judgement-free zone. Programming is offered in a variety of fields – including health, wellness, outdoor and artistic – and is available for residents of all ages and abilities.
Many programs are available at residents’ local community centres, which limits travel time, and the Recreation Affordable Access Program provides discounted recreation opportunities for children, youth and adults in financial need.
Key registration dates are as follows:
- Wednesday, April 3: Dryland recreation programming and summer camps.
- Wednesday, May 8: Aquatics programming at municipal pools, and beach sessions 1 and 2.
- Wednesday, July 10: Beach sessions 3 and 4.
A full list of all programs can be found on halifax.ca/rec.
Aquatics programming will take place at the following indoor pools: the Sackville Sports Stadium, the Needham Community Centre the and Captain William Spry Community Centre – as well as the following outdoor pools: the Halifax Commons Pool, the Bedford Outdoor Pool and the Cole Harbour Outdoor Pool.
Registration for programming at the Canada Games Centre, Cole Harbour Place, Zatzman Sportsplex and St Margaret’s Centre takes place on different dates and times. Please visit their websites directly for their registration information.
Residents are also reminded that registration for parents seeking inclusion support during summer camps closes on Wednesday, April 10.
